Publish date: 29.06.2020

University of Ljubljana had to adapt quickly to the new reality caused by COVID-19. We have taken measures to guarantee the safety of all of our students and staff. On 13. 3. 2020, all academic activities moved to online, including examinations. We will proceed with online activities until the end of the summer semester 2019/2020.

You can find all updates on regulations and taken measures concerning Covid-19 on our website.

We are planning to resume face-to-face teaching activities from the beginning of the winter semester 2020/2021.

We will start with the winter semester as planned on 1 October 2020. However, as the global situation changes fast and we are living in uncertain times, it is still possible that some changes might happen regarding teaching and learning during the winter semester.

We kindly ask students, selected to experience Erasmus+ mobility at University of Ljubljana, to inform themselves regularly on the updated measures and regulations at our website and to observe the entry and exit regulations of Slovenia and of their home country to be able to decide in due course whether their envisaged exchange will be feasible.

We hope to receive applications for the winter semester exchange until 31 May 2020, but we will be flexible also after this deadline. We will keep you informed about any possible changes.

Faculty of Electrical Engineering – activities regarding coronavirus

  • Electroporation in biology, biotechnology and medicine: Electroporation enables the introduction of pDNA into cells in vitro in vivo, meaning that it can be used in DNA vaccines. DNA vaccines for COVID-19 (and similar outbreaks of disease) could be successfully introduced into the organism and could protect the population from the spread of this virus. Head: Prof. Dr Damijan Miklavčič.
  • Semiconductor electronics: A study is currently being conducted on the feasibility and development of respiration aids for non-critical patients with breathing difficulties and their electronic and IoT support. Head: Prof. Dr Marko Topič.
  • 4PDIH team preapred on-line application »Help in the palm of your hand«. The purpose of the tool is to identify as many free assistance organizations as possible and to connect them with people who need help (e.g. elderly people who are unable to go to the grocery store alone, parents who do not have childcare etc.).

Due to new cases of coronavirus infections, we issue updated instructions regarding the implementation of the study process at the University of Ljubljana. The directions will be kept up to date with developments. At the University of Ljubljana (UL), the situation is monitored by a special working group led by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UL prof. dr. Igor Švab and Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, UL doc. dr. Andrej Starc. Each UL member has its own coordination teams.

Health, safety and welfare of all our students and staff is our main priority. We are updating them on regular basis. Our university is monitoring closely the situation and is taking the necessary steps in line with the national regulations.

Regarding the exchange students of the academic year 2019–2020:

We have switched to the online education until further notice. We are still exploring the possibilities for the online evaluation for domestic and foreign students (those who are still in Slovenia and also those who returned to their home countries and will not be able to return when/if the situation changes). All students will be informed once the decision is taken on the university level. They will get credits for all successful courses regardless the evaluation system (online or on-campus).

Regarding the mobility for the academic year 2020–2021:

We are already accepting nominations for the academic year 2020–21 presuming that everything will run smoothly next year. Our nomination deadline is end of April and application deadline 15 May.  Of course we will be flexible and will be accepting nominations and applications also past the deadline, but no later than 31 May 2020 for the first semester. All nominated students will receive instructions for the application procedure as soon as they are nominated.

All regular updates on COVID-19 are posted on our web site.
