  • Visual perception and moving pictures creation 
  • TV studios design and architecture  
  • Block diagrams and plans of studio equipment and OB (Outside Broadcasting) Van  
  • Functions and distribution of work in multi-camera television production 
  • Preparation for filming and documents 
  • Standards, connections, and management of video signals 
  • Camera systems (field, studio, PTZ and film cameras, lenses, sensors, video recording modes, management and control, power supply) 
  • Lighting (types of light sources and systems for management and control) 
  • Sound capture and processing (microphones, audio mixers, speakers, measurement systems) 
  • Room acoustics 
  • Vision mixers and matrixes 
  • Establishment of a television studio and control rooms 
  • New technologies in the field of television production

Objectives and competences

The objective of the course is to familiarize students with the structure, operation, possibilities and limitations of devices in audio-video production. The course deals with the basic characteristics of devices in AV production and the theory of recording techniques. Students get acquainted with various types of AV production, procedures and configuration of studio technology and TV studios. Through the understanding of the basics of acoustics, they also learn the basics of sound for video. Theoretical knowledge is complemented by the hands-on approach to these topics in laboratory exercises, where students learn about the practical application of studio technology and recording approaches.

Intended learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course students should be able to: 

  • Present the functioning of studio and recording equipment from the audio-visual content capture point of view and regarding the connectivity 
  • Design and perform live broadcasting of audio-video signals by mixing multiple sources 
  • Plan and implement adequate audio and video capture and storage 
  • Explain the basics of room acoustics 
  • Plan appropriate lighting and light management 
  • Plan the setup of studio equipment for various purposes
