Laboratory of Metrology and Quality
About the Laboratory
The Laboratory of Metrology and Quality (LMK) has continued, since 1991, the professional and scientific research work of the Laboratory for Electrothermy, which was established in 1954. Over time, the laboratory expanded its activities to include the professional fields of electrical measurements, digital measurement systems, process measurement technology, magnetics, and acoustics.
In addition to its rich history across numerous areas of metrology, LMK continues to ensure the highest level of quality in educational, professional, and scientific research activities.
In the field of precision temperature and humidity measurement, LMK ranks among the world leaders in certain areas, as confirmed by its designation as the holder of the Slovenian national standards for thermodynamic temperature and humidity. LMK’s expertise enables direct cooperation with domestic and international industry, research institutes, and educational institutions. Through its multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary scientific research work, LMK continuously improves its activities and follows technological progress, including successful participation in EU, EURAMET, and ARIS research projects.
LMK transfers its knowledge of metrology and technical quality to generations of students and other interested groups through courses within the university and professional study programmes at UL FE, as well as through other modern forms of knowledge transfer. The field of metrology and technical quality is most comprehensively addressed in the professional study programme Technical Quality, where students additionally acquire knowledge of European technical legislation, standardization, conformity assessment with European regulations, all with the aim of achieving higher added value and consequently greater competitiveness.
