Laboratory of Photovoltaics and Optoelectronics
The research activities of the Laboratory of Photovoltaics and Optoelectronics (LPVO) are focused on the fields of photovoltaics, optoelectronics, photonics, and electronics. The laboratory is involved in numerous national and international fundamental and applied projects, actively collaborating with many industrial partners and renowned research groups both locally and globally.
LPVO has over thirty years of experience in the characterization, modeling, and simulation of optoelectronic structures, particularly solar cells. The development of modern characterization systems and advanced numerical models provides insights not only into the external characteristics of structures but also into the real internal optical and electrical conditions, which are crucial for optimizing existing components and designing entirely new devices. In recent years, a significant segment of LPVO’s research has been dedicated to the development and fabrication of the latest perovskite solar cells and the design and characterization of photonic integrated circuits.
The educational activities of LPVO are geared towards transferring contemporary knowledge into the curricula of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs at the faculty. The laboratory also trains students and researchers, who, in addition to fulfilling their academic requirements, gain expertise in semiconductor electronics, electronic circuits, electronic devices and embedded systems, optoelectronics, photonics, and photovoltaics. They also learn methodologies for addressing interdisciplinary problems across a broad range of engineering and technical fields.
