Subject description

Prerequisits:

  • Enrolment in the year of the course.

Content (Syllabus outline):

  • Introduction (motivation, important definitions, representation of models, modelling approaches, cyclic modelling procedure, evaluation and verification),
  • Basic presentations of dynamic mathematical models, transformations and analysis,
  • Introduction to simulation (methods, simulation of basic system’s presentations),
  • Software tools: Matlab, Simulink,
  • Simple identification in time domain,
  • Introduction to analog systems and the significance for system engineering,
  • Examples from electrotechnics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics and thermodynamics,
  • Examples of model design of laboratory pilot plants,
  • Fault detection using mathematical model.

Objectives and competences:

  • To present basic knowledge regarding modeling and simulation of continuous dynamical systems,
  • to point out the extend usage of modeling and simulation and the multidisciplinary nature of this scientific field,
  • to present basic concepts of simulation,
  • to present cyclic procedure of modeling and to illustrate its usage in different fields,
  • to present software tools and their usage in the field of modeling and simulation.

Intended learning outcomes:

Basic knowledge of modelling and simulation of continuous dynamic systems

  • possibility of cooperation in seminar and project student's work.
