Janez Krč is a full professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana (UL FE). He received his Ph.D. in Elec. Eng. from the University of Ljubljana in 2002. His research activities are mainly focused on modelling, design and optical characterisation of optoelectronic devices and materials.

Recently, he started research on integrated photonic circuits at UL FE. He teaches courses in photonics, optoelectronics, optoelectronic components and systems, and analog electronic circuits. He is currently the deputy head of the Laboratory of Photovoltaics and Optoelectronics, deputy head of the Electronics Department and coordinator of the upcoming Slovenian Competence Center on Chips and Semiconductor Technologies. Besides his home university, he gained his expertise at TU Delft, the Netherlands, FZ Jülich, Germany, and Ghent University, Belgium. He has received the Jožef Stefan Golden Emblem, the Vodovnik Prize of Faculty of Electrical Engineering UL, the Zois national Certificate of Recognition, the Golden Emblem from the University of Ljubljana and other awards.
