Objectives and competences
The aim of the course is to acquire theoretical knowledge required for the design of electrical machines. Getting to know and to use specialized software packages for the design of electrical machines. To prepare the students for the synthesis and analysis of geometric models of electric machines and their use to analyze stationary and transient electromagnetic and electromechanical states.
Teaching and learning methods
Lectures, laboratory exercises, demonstrations, work with computer tools, coursework and project work.
Expected study results
After successful completion of the course, students should be able to:
- describe the basic connections of electromagnetic quantities in electrical machines
- understand the phenomena in the iron core, coils and permanent magnets in electrical machines,
- calculate the physical quantities of the magnetic, electric and thermal fields in the electric machine,
- calculate magnetic, electrostatic and thermal fields with modern computer tools based on the finite element method,
- evaluate geometrical dimensional connections for the proper operation of electrical machines,
- design electric machines with permanent magnets and asynchronous machines.
