2024 Overview

In 2024, several new projects funded through various European programmes were launched at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, while a number of ongoing projects were successfully completed.

Within the framework of European Territorial Cooperation programmes (INTERREG), eight projects were implemented in 2024, with the Faculty acting as coordinator in three of them. Compared to 2023, the number of projects doubled, and the Faculty secured an additional coordinating role, which represents a positive indicator of its performance.

Framework Programmes (Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe)

Within the EU Framework Programmes (the previous perspective Horizon 2020 and the current Horizon Europe), seven new projects were launched in 2024, while eight projects were completed.

Compared to 2023, the trend remains positive, as only one fewer framework project was implemented than in the previous year. For 2025, we have already received confirmation of the successful evaluation of two project proposals scheduled to begin at the start of 2025.

Other European Programmes

In 2024, projects funded by the LIFE Programme and the Norwegian and EEA Financial Mechanism continued, along with two projects under the European Defence Fund (EDF).

One ERASMUS+ project was completed in 2024, while no new ERASMUS+ projects were acquired. Within the EMPIR programme, the final project concluded in 2024; however, a new project under the EPM programme, which represents the continuation of EMPIR in the new financial perspective, was secured. In total, four projects were implemented under the EPM programme in 2024.

In addition to the programmes listed above, one DIGITAL EUROPE project and two CEF projects were carried out, while Faculty staff also participated in projects under the COST programme.

Performance and engagement

In 2024, the Faculty implemented one more European project than in 2023. Several additional projects are set to begin at the start of 2025, indicating the Faculty’s strong success rate in securing European funding.
