Ambient intelligence

Subject description

Ambient intelligence is an established concept that combines many fields, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, user interfaces, etc. In the course we are committed to the field of Green transition, however students can choose domain related to their doctoral topic. Students prepare a literature review and simple model or prototype to demonstrate the chosen concept of ambient intelligence. Modelling and prototyping involves tools familiar to students. Typical topics include context awarness, providing feedback, alternative user interfaces, etc. Ambient intelligence puts the user at the center of modern systems and services development. Applications in various socio-technical systems with an emphasis on Green Transition topics.

The subject is taught in programs

Objectives and competences

The goal is to present an interdisciplinary field where student integrates and extends his/her knowledge on ambient intelligence with selected case study.

Understanding putting user in the center in modern information-communication systems and services.

Analysis and designing of socio-technical systems based on the Internet of Things architecture.

Teaching and learning methods

Consultations and supervised project work.

Expected study results

After successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

Understand roles of communications and information technologies and their use in different socio-technical systems.

Using approaches to modeling and prototyping systems and services that are based on the Internet of Things architecture.
