The subject is taught in programs
Objectives and competences
Student will get knowledge about materials that are used in the field of electrical engineering. Knowing the electrical, mechanical, chemical and other properties of materials students can be active in design of electrical machines and devices in the field of power electronics and power systems.
Teaching and learning methods
Lectures, laboratory work in small groups (danger of high voltage), professional excursion
Expected study results
After successful completion of the course, students should be able to:
- discuss about materials and their technologies,
- classify materials by their electrical, chemical and mechanical properties,
- describe measures and procedures to improve specific properties of materials,
- test materials to evaluate their physical properties,
- interpret results of material evaluation,
- select material in the process of a new product design.
