Subject description
Basics of project management, objective, stages, main and specific objectives of the project, duration, timing of the project, resources needed for the project, project database, planning, tracking, prediction, decision making and evaluation of research and development projects, use of the program Super Project and / or Microsoft Project.
Types of teams, teamwork characteristics, the roles of team members, techniques and tools for establishment of the teamwork.
Identifying and defining problems, searching for possible solutions, choosing the best solution to the problem and the implementation of solutions. The cycle of problem solving – simplex. Techniques of problem solving: problem analysis (SWOT analysis, fishbone diagram, etc.), techniques for creating ideas for solutions (brainstorming, recording ideas, etc.), idea selection techniques (decision tree, the comparison in pairs, etc.).
Systematic approaches for managing innovative organizations (situation analysis, setting targets of innovation, building an organizational culture of innovation, systems of promotion and reward, management of innovation and research work). Intellectual property (intellectual property – patents, models and copyright, the processes for registration and grant of rights). The Web and European support environment for innovations, research and development.

Objectives and competences
Learning the theoretical basics, transferable knowledge and skills in project management, innovation, teamwork and problem solving techniques.
Students will develop general competencies:
– ability to analyze, synthesize, and anticipate solutions and consequences of phenomena in the field of innovation management, project work and team work
– managing research and development methods in the field of project work, team work and management of innovation, and the development of critical self-assessment
– ability to apply knowledge and skills in practice,
– autonomy in professional work and decision-making,
– the ability to defend own positions with arguments and taking into account the views of others.
Students will develop subject-specific competencies:
– Knowing and understanding of the project work, team work and innovation processes
– the ability to address the challenges with an enhanced ability in project and team work and with strengthening the creative and innovative processes,
– ability to find and use new information from various sources,
– Understanding the connection between the skills in organization and the requirements of modern management with technical, inventive, research, managerial and legal aspects
– Understanding and application of critical analysis and development, and practical application of theories to solve practical expert problems.

Expected study results
To recognise and use methods of problem solving, tools and principles of project management, and to use methods and techniques of teamwork. To recognising the concept of intellectual property and choose appropriate ways of protecting intellectual property.
