Visual communications and psychology

Subject description

– The basics of psychological processes and personality. Models and theories of motivation, emotions, cognition, perception and communication.

 – Visual perception and cognition. Social perception and cognition. Communication and communicative skills.

 – Psychological aspects of visual communication and multimedia technology, multimedia graphics and design. The role and the influence of media in our life.

 – Cyberspace and virtual reality. Cyberpsychology.

 – Ethics and values in the use of visual communications and (multi)media.

Objectives and competences

Introductory and basic knowledge of psychology, cognition and personality and psychological aspects of visual communications and (multi)media technology. The effective and critical understanding and use of this knowledge in profession and life.

Teaching and learning methods

Lectures, audiovisual demonstrations, laboratory work.

Expected study results

The understanding of psychological (behavioral) and ethical principles of the effective and responsible use of visual communications and (multi)media technology.
