Subject description

1. Introduction to environmental statistics.
2. Time series analysis.
3. Spatial statistics, geostatistics.
4. Design of monitoring networks.
5. Spatial-temporal statistics.
6. Statistical analysis of extreme values.

The subject is taught in programs

Objectives and competences

Covers many of the statistical methodologies used in the environmental sciences, including spatial statistics, time series analysis and extreme value theory applied in such areas as air pollution modeling, global climate change and the prediction of extreme environmental events.

Teaching and learning methods

Lectures, computer lab. work, seminar.

Expected study results

Knowledge and understanding:

The student will be able to independently collect and use basic statistical models for analyses of time series, spatial data and extreme values.
