Statistical consulting

Subject description

Student under guidance of his/her supervisor performs one or more analyses (depends on the level) for a customer. He/she is present at all phases of the reserach, and learns the role of a statistician in a research team.

In analysis the student will use methods learned in other courses, or, eventually, some other methods necessary to accomplish the task.

Student helps th ecustomer to prepare a report and also prepares a report about his/her work for the supervisor.

Objectives and competences

Student obtains practical experience with statistical consulting and analysis, where special emphasis is given to methods of the chosen module. Student solves real problems in designing research, collecting and describing data, analysis, interpretation of results and learns communicating with the customer.

Teaching and learning methods

Written report on at least one collaboration with customers.

Part of the pedagogical process will be carried out with the help of ICT technologies and the opportunities they offer.

Expected study results

Knowledge and understanding:

Student performs real data analysis, where he/she needs to combine knowledge acquired at other courses, or possibly learns new methods.
