Subject description

The course introduces relevant methodological and statistical topics from the perspective of statistical consulting, from the perspective of the associated implementations via supporting software, and from the perspective of reporting the results to quantitatively-literate and non-literate audience.

Objectives and competences

The goal of the course is to introduce students to statistical consulting emphasising those aspects which are relevant for successful practical application of statistical consulting.

In-depth knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of statistical consulting.

Understanding the role of statistical consulting in a specific organisation – sponsor of the consulting project.

  • secondary data search, evaluation and use in statistical consulting;

  • primary data collection, evaluation and use in statistical consulting;

  • use of analytical software packages in statistical consulting;

  • visualisation and dissemination of statistical consulting results.
