Laboratory forRobotics

The Robotics Laboratory has a long tradition of quality research in robotics and biomedical engineering, and of transferring products to industrial and rehabilitation environments.

Recent research has focused on robot-environment interaction, the construction and use of haptic interfaces, virtual reality in robotics, and measurements in relation to robots. The research is embedded in the domestic industrial and international research landscape, and is echoed in peer-reviewed international publications, international alliances and projects.

International activities include EU funded projects, RTD STREP projects in FP4 – FP7 (SENSATIONS, GENTLE/S, I-Match, ALLADIN, MIMICS, EVRYON, CARETOY, CYBERLEGS), bilateral cooperation with 18 countries, the laboratory is a member of EURON (The European Robotics Research Network). There is also a rich collaboration with various industrial partners covering the field of robotics in Slovenia (Yaskawa Slovenia, ABB Slovenia, DAX, FDS Research), as well as with industrial partners from other fields (Trimo, LPKF, ETA Cerkno, Iskra Avtoelektrika). In 2010, the Robotics Laboratory was awarded the prestigious 3rd EURON/EUnited Robotics Technology Transfer Award for knowledge transfer to industry.

The laboratory brings its experience to the home environment to undergraduate and postgraduate students or study programmes and industrial partners. The laboratory has a decades-long intertwined relationship with the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, as well as an established cooperation with a related section at the Jožef Stefan Institute.
