About the faculty

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana is the leading educational and scientific research institution for electrical engineering in Slovenia.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana is a high-tech educational and scientific research institution in the field of electrical engineering. Its main activity is the education of the best personnel in the field of electrical engineering. However, electrical engineering has long ceased to be a science related only to electric current and voltage. In addition to electronics and electrical engineering, we are developing and building up the fields of information communication technology, automation, robotics, biomedical engineering, mechatronics, renewable energies, multimedia communications… All these fields are permeated with computing and informatics, with state-of-the-art communications, with the use of the World Wide Web and multimedia solutions.

Full-time undergraduate studies are offered at the bachelor’s level and at the higher professional level (Bologna Cycle 1). After the 1st cycle, graduates can continue their studies with by pursuing a master’s degree (Bologna Cycle 2) and a PhD (Bologna Cycle 3). In addition to the above-mentioned levels of education, the faculty also provides professional development and complementary training for experts in various technical disciplines. To this end, it organises and runs short intensive seminars lasting a few days. In particular, the faculty is dedicated to training young researchers, who are introduced to research and teaching under the mentorship of university professors.

The Faculty has excellent library facilities, with a quiet reading room available throughout the day. There’s also the KuFE creative classroom for large groups of students who want to study together, a restaurant to refuel your brain, and the faculty garden to breathe in the fresh air and discuss exam material.

Students can enjoy a wide range of extracurricular activities – you can visit the MakerLab to develop your own ideas and products with the help of professors, you can take part in making an electrical formula or join one of the many electrical engineering student societies, and for the more artistic souls, you can join the vocal group and the faculty choir.
