Borrowing Materials

Renewals and Reservations

You can renew borrowed materials or place reservations in the following ways:

• in person at the library,
• by phone,
• by email,
• via the My Library service (COBISS AAI).

Good to know

• If an item has the status “on loan” at the time of reservation, it will be held for you for up to 3 working days after it is returned to the library.
• If the desired item has the status “available” at the time of reservation, it will be held for 1 working day.

Returning Materials

Materials can be returned:

• in person during library opening hours,
• via the book return drop box (TREZOR), or
• by registered mail.

In the event of overdue returns, late fees will be charged in accordance with the valid price list.

Reading Rooms

The library provides designated reading room spaces, where a quiet study environment is expected.

During library opening hours, the reading rooms may be used upon presentation of a student card or personal ID (for visit statistics purposes).

Food and drinks are not permitted in the reading rooms.

Since the 2023/24 academic year, two Creative Classrooms (KuFE) and a social space in front of the library have been available. These areas offer suitable conditions for project work, group study, and social interaction.

My Library (COBISS AAI)

You can access the “My Library (COBISS AAI)” service via the library website or directly through COBISS+.

To log in, select your home library, enter your student/member card number, and use the password you set after receiving the activation email upon library registration (Subject: My Library – password setup).

The service allows you to:

• view borrowed and reserved materials,
• renew loan periods,
• place orders and reservations,
• check outstanding fees and loan history,
• manage your account settings (e.g. email notifications, password, contact details, etc.).

Remote Access

Access to subscribed electronic information resources is available from any location outside the University of Ljubljana (UL) network.

The UL Remote Access to Information Resources service is available to enrolled UL students and UL staff.

To use Remote Access, you can log in via:

• COBISS AAI: select your library, enter your student/member card number, and use the same password as for My COBISS (My Library), or
• Arnes AAI: log in with your UL digital identity.

Espacenet

A database of patents and patent families.
Open access.

Journal Impact Metrics

Impact factors for serial publications can be checked in:

• Journal Citation Reports (JCR)
• Source Normalized Impact per Paper (SNIP)

ProQuest Central

One of the largest multidisciplinary databases for searching scholarly, professional, and popular literature across more than 160 subject areas, including engineering, natural sciences, telecommunications, computer science, and more.

Accessible from computers within the UL network and via UL Remote Access for UL students and staff.

SCOPUS

A multidisciplinary bibliographic database with a citation index. It includes articles from peer-reviewed and open-access journals, conference proceedings, scientific monographs, and patents. The database is updated weekly.

Accessible at the University of Ljubljana, CTK, and NUK locations, and via UL Remote Access for UL students and staff.

Note: Access issues may occur when using Internet Explorer 11. The platform works correctly in Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.

Web of Science (WoS)

A citation index database providing access to bibliographic and citation data.

Accessible from computers within the UL network or via UL Remote Access for UL students and staff.
