Laboratory of control systems and cybernetics
About the Laboratory
The Laboratory of Automation and Cybernetics originates from the Laboratory for Analog and Hybrid Computing, established at our faculty over sixty years ago. Since its beginning, the laboratory has been developing and using the latest methods of computer modelling, simulation, and control for various systems. In the last decade, we have also been dealing with autonomous mobile systems, a field that is rapidly developing and presents many unresolved challenges, particularly in connection with their decision-making based on artificial intelligence, which such systems require.
In our research, we focus on both conventional and state-of-the-art approaches, including adaptive, predictive, multivariable, and hybrid control methods. We also explore methods of modelling and identification of dynamic processes using approaches of artificial intelligence such as fuzzy logic, artificial neural networks, and expert systems.
These methods are applied in various areas, including system control, digital twins of processes, decision support systems, prediction systems, process optimization, and simulators, especially in relation to industrial problems.
The laboratory plays a significant role in the educational process for both undergraduate programs in Automation, the graduate program in Automation and Informatics, and the doctoral program.
