Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Laboratory
About the Laboratory
Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Laboratory has a rich history of research in algorithms for numerical support of electronic circuit design and optimization. A notable achievement of the laboratory is the tool SPICE OPUS, an improved and upgraded version of the Berkeley open-source analog circuit simulator SPICE. Among other features, SPICE OPUS includes advanced graphical tools and optimization algorithms.
Part of our educational work involves teaching programming with an emphasis on microcontroller and real-time embedded systems. We have developed our own robotic spider, which students at all levels of study use for practical learning in embedded systems programming. We also teach computer-aided design and optimization techniques for analog electronic circuits. The design of analog circuits is particularly demanding, as it requires in-depth theoretical knowledge of the field, which is also a core part of our teaching activities.
With the rapid development of computing technology, our research work is evolving towards increasingly complex algorithms. In addition to classical design and optimization algorithms, we are also moving into the development of evolutionary algorithms. These offer unforeseen possibilities of application — especially in hybrid forms combined with classical algorithms — in the field of automated circuit design, both in terms of parameter optimization and topology synthesis.
The main vision of our laboratory is the development of tools for industrial use that enable faster and more reliable development of analog electronic circuits.
