Tutoring
Who Is It For and Why?
The tutoring programme is primarily designed to support first-year students in adapting to a new way of studying and living — one that differs significantly from secondary school.
Successfully navigating the first year is not only about mastering academic content, but also about learning to manage the considerable freedom that comes with university life and finding a healthy balance between work and leisure. This requires responsibility and maturity.
Tutors — senior students — have already gone through this experience and are ready to share their knowledge and insights with you, the tutee.
Tutoring coordinators:
- Domestic students – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marko Jankovec
- International students – Assist. Prof. Dr. Goran Andonovski
About Tutoring
What tutoring is
Spending time with senior peers who are willing to share their study experiences and help you learn how to overcome challenges independently.
What tutoring is not
Tutoring is not private instruction in mathematics, physics, or any other subject. For that type of academic support, teaching assistants and professors are available.
I enjoyed working with others. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to make my first connection with students who found it difficult to ask for help. I can relate to that myself — I still sometimes feel embarrassed when I don’t know something. But there are many things I don’t know, and that’s perfectly normal.
Would you like to become tutor or do you need one?
If you would like to become a tutor or need the support of a tutor in your studies and everyday challenges at the Faculty, you are always welcome to contact us.
Tutoring activities are designed to provide support, guidance, and the exchange of experiences — we warmly invite you to join.
FAQ
The physics course in the first semester is now called Mechanics and Thermodynamics (or Mechanics and Heat). Lectures take place at Jadranska ulica 26, in the Peterlin Pavilion.
Regular lectures according to the timetable start in the very first week. Timetables and group allocations are published on the Faculty’s website.
Lectures usually take place first. During the first lecture of each course, you will receive all the necessary information regarding tutorials and laboratory work. Therefore, there are no tutorial or laboratory sessions before the first lecture of a given course.

Exam registrations and grades for all courses are available in the FE Studis system.
According to the legislation and the Statute of the University of Ljubljana, repetition is possible only once during your studies. A change of study programme due to unfulfilled obligations in the previous programme also counts as repetition.
- To re-enrol in the 1st year, a student must complete at least 30 ECTS credits from the 1st year.
- To re-enrol in the 2nd year, a student must complete all 60 ECTS credits from the 1st year and at least 30 ECTS credits from the 2nd year.
- Repetition of the final year is not possible.
Conditional repetition (“repetition on justified grounds”) is not possible under the provisions of the UL Statute.
If you are not eligible to repeat the year, you should arrange the status of a “pavzer” (student without status). In this case, you may complete outstanding exams, but they are subject to payment.
If you wish to go on exchange abroad (for one or two semesters), you must apply for the call in due time — applications are usually open in December for the following academic year.
For additional information about exchanges, you may contact Katarina Erjavec during office hours:

If you do not attend the exam and have not withdrawn from it in time, the professor will record a failing grade (unless you have arranged otherwise with them). Previously, so-called “returned registrations” were possible, but this is no longer the case.
Elective courses cannot be changed.
At enrolment, students are explicitly instructed to carefully check and gather information about the track they are choosing. Changes after enrolment are not possible.
