UL FE students once again show strong support for the Heartfelt UL charity campaign

The path to an inclusive and equitable society is paved with compassion and cooperation. Students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana (UL FE) demonstrated this once again through their renewed support for the Heartfelt UL (Srčna UL) charity campaign. During the charity week, organized as part of the initiative run by the University of Ljubljana (UL) in cooperation with the Friends of Youth Association of Slovenia, they raised €1,250 – about half more than last year, when €772.11 was collected.

Every day, the Student Council of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering encounters various hardships faced by students. Unfortunately, these difficulties often stem from students’ financial situations. That is why we felt it was right to bring a touch of charity to the festive Advent season at our faculty – to support our peers and friends, do something meaningful together, and during breaks collect as many funds as possible for those who have found themselves in financial hardship for a variety of reasons. In doing so, we hope to help them at least a little. We are proud to support Heartfelt UL, as it stands by our peers – students,” said Jakob Velepec, President of the Student Council of UL FE.

At the student organization Štromar.si, we are aware that access to higher education is not something everyone can take for granted. We believe that the path to education should be paved with knowledge and determination, while sparing students from worries about their financial situation. That is why we proudly support the Heartfelt UL campaign – because as socially responsible students we are building a community where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed,” added Tim Kalan, President of the Student Organization of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Štromar.si.

At the student association EESTEC LC Ljubljana, we are pleased that this year, in cooperation with the Student Council of UL FE and Štromar.si, we successfully organized the Charity Week and collected funds to support students in financial hardship as part of the Heartfelt UL programme. Throughout the event we noticed a warm, friendly, and positive atmosphere among students, which made us especially happy. We are glad that we had the opportunity to help students in need while also bringing smiles to many students, professors, and assistants. We are very satisfied with this year’s experience, as it once again showed that together we can achieve a great deal and create an environment in which no one is overlooked. We are happy about this successful collaboration and already look forward to repeating it next year,” concluded Dominik Bernik, representative of the student association EESTEC LC Ljubljana, with an optimistic vision for the future.

Representatives of the organizations symbolically presented the cheque to the Rector of the University of Ljubljana, Prof. Dr Gregor Majdič, who said: “I sincerely thank the students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana for once again supporting the Heartfelt UL charity campaign. The collected €1,250 is not only financial support but also a powerful message of solidarity, unity, and responsibility toward the community. We are proud that at the University of Ljubljana a generation of young people is growing that understands that the path to an inclusive society is built on compassion and the willingness to help. Your actions show that students are not only building their professional future but also a more just and compassionate world.

The Heartfelt UL charity campaign, organized by the University of Ljubljana in cooperation with the Friends of Youth Association of Slovenia, has been running since 2021. During this time, 176 students and 23 employees have already received support, and more than €125,000 has been raised in total.
