Studio Equipment and Recording Techniques

The course presents visual perception and creation of moving images, architecture and planning of TV studios, block diagrams and planning of studio equipment including reporting vehicles, as well as various functions and distribution of work in multi-camera television production. Students get an insight into the process of preparing for the recording and the preparation of the necessary documents. It is also important to consider various standards, methods of connection and management of video signals, planning the layout of the equipment and creating a block diagram that includes all the necessary equipment and connections. The main focus of the subject is on modern hybrid systems and AV transmission via IP infrastructure. During the course, they learn about different camera systems, lighting planning options, sound capture and processing methods, including room acoustics and the detailed operation of video, audio and lighting mixing consoles. As part of the practical work, students first get to know individual segments and equipment, then focus on recording in the field and finish with a live transmission of studio show.  

The objective of the course is to familiarize students with the structure, operation, possibilities and limitations of devices in audio-video production. The course deals with the basic characteristics of devices in AV production and the theory of recording techniques. Students get acquainted with various types of AV production, procedures and configuration of studio technology and TV studios. Through the understanding of the basics of acoustics, they also learn the basics of sound for video. Theoretical knowledge is complemented by the hands-on approach to these topics in laboratory exercises, where students learn about the practical application of studio technology and recording approaches.
