Making an electronic circuitThe playing cube

Every modern electronic device contains at least one electronic circuit in the form of a printed circuit board with electronic components.

The playing cube

Circuit components include simple resistors, switches, light emitting diodes (LEDs), as well as pre-assembled microelectronic integrated circuits. In digital devices, the most useful integrated circuits are microcontrollers - miniature computers that are programmed to work. Connections between components are made most reliably by soldering on a printed circuit board.

Read more about the workshop

Programme of the science and technology day:

  • introduction to electronic components
  • making a dice by soldering components to a printed circuit board
  • programming the microcontroller on the circuit board

In this workshop, we will make an electronic dice that, when you press a button, displays a random number between 1 and 6 on the LEDs. We will learn about electronic components and how to solder components onto ready-made printed circuit boards. We will insert a microcontroller with a program to generate random numbers. Anyone who already has programming experience will also be able to write and translate their own program in the Arduino Sketch tool. You will keep the electronic cubes you make. No electronics or programming background is necessary.

The programme, which lasts four hours, can accommodate up to 15 participants. The price is 10€ per participant (VAT included), and reservations are required at least one month in advance.
