Laboratory forTelecommunications

The Telecommunications Lab focuses on telecommunications networks and services, the Internet of Things, 5G converged fixed and mobile network upgrades, block chain technologies and open innovation.

The LTFE works closely with the Laboratory for Multimedia (LMMFE).

Teaching work

Members of the laboratory are involved in undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies. They teach courses in telecommunications networks and services, protocols, software, and systems management and design.

Research

LTFE and LMMFE have a total of 40 researchers, including 14 young researchers and researchers with PhDs in ICT, electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer science and informatics.10+ research projects per year.

Horizon 2020 and Interreg Europe project partners. Promoters of the IoT Horizon in SRIP Smart Cities and Communities and the national FabLab network of Slovenia. We work with the largest Slovenian ICT companies in the EkoSmart project.

Developing

IoT solutions, integration of blockchain functions on devices, telecommunication protocols, application programming interfaces (APIs), mobile multimedia applications (AR/VR), upgrading converged fixed and mobile networks towards 5G, user experience and accessibility design for all. Digitising other industries using these ICT skills.

We bring our experience and references into the corporate environment, finding the most sensible paths to a solution with a wide range of interdisciplinary skills. This is why we work together with companies to achieve outstanding success in development projects.

Testing

Development and pre-certification testing of the security, performance, compliance and resilience of network devices and data services. Testing of equipment samples prior to purchase or sale.

We have three protocol analysers and traffic generators from different manufacturers. Our test centre includes a data centre and network devices with protocols used by telecom operators. We are therefore able to perform test scenarios of a wide range of complexity and contribute to the quality of the final products.
