Laboratory of PowerSystems

The Laboratory for Power Systems and High Voltage is part of the Department of Power Systems and Installations.

The Laboratory for Power Systems and High Voltage is part of the Department of Power Systems and Installations, which also includes the Laboratory for Electrical Networks and Installations, the Laboratory for Energy Strategies, the Laboratory for Lighting and Photometry, the Laboratory for Protection, Automation and Control, and the Laboratory for Electricity Supply.

The research and teaching activities of the laboratory are focused on various aspects of operation, management and planning of power systems (EES) and the electricity market. Currently, the most intensive work is focused on the development of a new method for determining the proximity of a voltage fault based on local phasor measurements, undervoltage unloading, probabilistic optimisation of EES operation, determination of the condition of power transformers based on partial discharge measurements with radio antennas, evaluation of power transmission, and the development of methods for unloading overloaded lines.

In addition to our research and teaching work, we are actively involved in applied industrial projects, mainly for the power sector in Slovenia and the surrounding area (Western Balkans).
