The Engineer of the Year competition, in which the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana is a partner, focuses on a person whose work and personality can serve as an example and inspiration for younger generations of girls, so that they can make better choices for promising engineering careers. In this year's generation of Slovenian women engineers, the jury identified Rosana Kolar as the 'President of the Class'. Her humility and respectful attitude to work - her awareness that every employee is key to a safe and comfortable journey above ground - is striking. She knew she wanted to be an aircraft mechanic at the tender age of 11. In her perseverance, self-confidence and strong belief in her mission, the Commission recognised a pioneer of a kind in aviation.

On receiving the statuette, Ms Kolar thanked the award for the outstanding recognition: 'I feel honoured to be standing on stage today with nine outstanding women engineers. This award is a tribute to all of us. We are all winners. I would like to thank my family, who recognised my difference and supported me throughout, and Adria Tehnika and my boys in the hangar, who selflessly gave me their valuable knowledge and experience throughout."
