Commemorative meeting on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Ludwik Gyergyek

This September marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the academic, Professor Ludwik Gyergyek. To mark the occasion, on Thursday, 24 November, starting at 3 p.m. at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana (lecture room P2).

The rich legacy of Professor Ludvik Gyergyek

During the event, retired professors Professor Nikola Pavešić and Professor France Mihelič, who worked extensively with Professor Ludvik Gyergyek, will present the life and work of this important scholar and scientist. Prof. Gyergyek's creative work has always been concerned with the most topical problems in the field of electrical engineering, especially in the areas of systems, automation and cybernetics, and computer science.

On the work of Professor Ludwik Gyergyek

Professor Ludvik Gyergyek was Professor Emeritus at the then Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Ljubljana. He was the founder of the Chair of Systems, Automation and Cybernetics, and for many years was its chair. He founded the automation course at the university and the postgraduate course in automation. He was full professor in circuit theory, systems theory, information theory and statistical methods. He has written eight textbooks. His mentoring work is extremely extensive, having supervised more than 200 graduates and 85 MSc graduates, and he has mentored 54 PhD students, some of them from abroad (India, Egypt, Mexico, USA). He was a permanent member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
