[ICTinfo] ICT spending in EMEA to increase by 3.7 percent this year after last year's decline

Gartner forecasts a 3.7% growth in ICT spending in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) to €1.21 trillion in 2023 compared to 2022. Growth in the most developed markets of Western Europe, Germany, France and the UK, will be slightly higher, around 5%. The growth forecast is certainly good news after last year's 3.8 per cent decline, although it is well below the 10.5 per cent growth forecast for 2021. Last year, the devices segment saw the biggest decline, 13.1 per cent (after 15 per cent growth in 2021), and Gartner is forecasting a 2.6 per cent decline for this year as well (to €174 billion). The communications services segment, which declined by 3.6 per cent last year (after 4.3 per cent growth in 2021), is expected to grow by 2.3 per cent this year (to €448 billion), while the IT services segment, which declined by 0.9 per cent last year (after even 15.3 per cent growth in 2021), is expected to grow by just over 6.6 per cent this year (to €356 billion). This year, spending in the software segment will grow the most, by just over 8.6 percent (to €198 billion). In this segment, spending on public cloud will grow the most in EMEA this year, by a full 18.2 percent to €128 billion. Spending on cloud software will reach a good third (34%) of total spending on enterprise software. Consumer personal device spending in EMEA, which fell by 13 percent last year, the most since 2009, will fall by 3.6 percent this year.
