Call for proposalsTZT

The experiments announced in the call for proposals can be carried out by the students independently at home or in an organised way at school under the guidance of a teacher.

In the 2023/2024 school year, competitions will be held according to the following timetable:

Level of competition Date Start time
School competition Wednesday, 8 November 2023 at 13.00
National competition Saturday, 9 March 2024 at 12.00

Before entering a school competition, in accordance with the Rules of the Technology Knowledge Competition, written consent for public publication must be obtained from each competitor or their legal representative, due to the requirements of the Personal Data Protection Act. The University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Electrical Engineering will only publish the results of the national competition, but publication on the school notice board or bulletin board is also considered public publication. If the student's legal representative does not agree to this, the student cannot participate in the competition.

As of the 2023/2024 school year, UL FE has abolished the competition entry fee.

The school competition will take place on Wednesday, 8 November 2023, at 13:00, and is compulsory for all schools in Slovenia. Entries close on Tuesday 7 November 2023 at 12 p.m.

The tasks for the school competition are uniform and compulsory for all schools. They are only available on the DMFA Information Server. The information server also contains the form for pupils.

Any translation of the tasks into Italian or Hungarian must be requested from the National Commission at least 14 days before the first level of the competition at tekmovanje@fe.uni-lj.si. The preferred language version must be indicated in the Information Server when the application form for the competition is printed out.

The school competition consists of 15 questions with three possible answers (A,B,C), where only one answer is correct. The questions relate to the two exercises and are interlinked. Each competitor is awarded 15 starting points. A correct answer counts 2 points, an incorrect answer -1 point. A maximum of 45 points can be scored in total.

The content of the experiments is partly related to the content of the science and engineering curricula. Children are expected to have a general and scientific understanding appropriate to their age.

The curriculum objectives include the development of skills and the acquisition of scientific procedures such as directed and planned observation, comparison, measurement, classification, ordering, organisation, modification, experimentation, identification of experimental factors, prediction, graphical representation of findings, design and reading of tables and graphs, inference and linking cause and effect, evaluation and interpretation, drawing conclusions, etc. All these scientific and technical competences are tested and developed by carrying out the experiments and solving the tasks set in the competition.

Competition tasks for 2023/24:

The rules of the competition are published in the Rules of the Technology Knowledge Contest.

Competitors use only their own pen during the competition. No electronic, communication or other devices (computers, mobile phones, smartwatches, smart glasses, multimedia players, games consoles, etc.) may be brought into the room where the tasks are being solved. Other devices are not allowed at the school level.

The National Technology Knowledge Competition will be held at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, Tržaška cesta 25, 1000 Ljubljana.

The School Competition Committee will register competitors for the National Competition via the DMFA Information Server. This will also show the registration deadlines, which must be strictly adhered to, as subsequent entries will no longer be possible after this deadline.

Any objection to the evaluation at the National Competition must be made in writing and under the competitor's code and addressed to the National Commission. The Jury will only consider objections that are received at tekmovanje@fe.uni-lj.si by 14:00 on Thursday 16 March 2024, the time stamp on the University's web server when the email is received for processing (and not received on the client at the National Jury) being taken as acceptance.
