From electrons to stars

Electrical devices are everywhere around us and we rarely pay attention to the fact that they need electricity. It comes to our homes (mostly) through power lines from power stations or from alternative energy sources such as the sun and wind. We'll learn about some of these sources of electricity and play around with finding the wires hidden in walls - but because we'll be designing the device around a microcontroller, our wire finder will be able to do a lot more. In this workshop, we'll see how we use computers to solve mathematical problems that we encounter in circuit design, and we'll take a tour of the experimental nuclear reactor in Podgorica near Ljubljana.

Excursion: IJKS Reactor Centre, Podgorica
