V sredo, 14. maja, bo ob 10. uri v diplomski sobi potekalo vabljeno predavanje, ki ga bo izvedel Marco Ernst. Tema predavanja bodo raziskovalne dejavnosti na področju fotovoltaike na Avstralski narodni univerzi (ANU).

Title:
PV Research at ANU: From Materials to Modules and Systems

Abstract:
This presentation highlights recent research activities within the ANU Photovoltaics Group, ranging from fundamental materials science to module and system-level applications. Our research on high efficiency silicon solar cells includes innovations in TOPCon and other passivated contact technologies, complemented by in-depth studies of silicon material quality, defect analysis and advanced characterisation methods. In addition, we are exploring next-generation photovoltaic devices technologies such as perovskite and tandem solar cells. Beyond solar cells, our work extends to module and system-level modelling, including detailed ray-tracing simulations and energy yield forecasting. The talk will also provide a brief overview of our facilities.

Bio:
Marco Ernst is a senior research fellow and lecturer in photovoltaics at the Australian National University. After earning a physics degree in 2008, he completed a PhD (Dr. rer. nat., 2013) on kerf-free macroporous silicon solar cells at the Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin (ISFH), Germany. Dr. Ernst has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, given invited talks on four continents, and received the ANU College of Engineering & Computer Science Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence (2018). His research now centres on module- and system-level photovoltaics: accurate ray-tracing for energy yield modelling, agrivoltaics, outdoor module testing and degradation analysis, and applications of machine-learning methods.
