From student to model: the path to numerical modelling of solar cellsDate of publication: 24.11.2023 Start date: 30.11.2023 Start time: 13:00 Location Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UL, Lecture room P1
On Thursday, 30 November, at 13:00, a lecture will be given by the recipient of this year's Vidmar Prize , Assoc. Prof. Dr. Benjamin Lipovšek.
In this lecture, we will go through the rich history of research in numerical analysis and optimisation of solar cells, which is one of the core activities of the Laboratory for Photovoltaics and Optoelectronics. We will highlight a success story that has been written with a clear vision, perseverance and, above all, an inexhaustible source of fresh ideas and creativity, brought to the R&D process each year by new generations of students and young researchers. As the key link between the classroom and the laboratory, it is our responsibility as higher education teachers to maintain this continuity; are we doing this well enough, or could we go one step further?
Every year, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering awards the Vidmar Awards to a faculty professor and an assistant, as well as to a practical training mentor from the business sector. In selecting the winners, the award takes into account their comprehensive teaching work, which is reflected in their knowledge imparting, mentoring and extra-curricular work with students.
The award is given by the Faculty in honour of the memory of the father of Slovenian electrical engineers, academician, Dr. h. c., Prof. Dr. Milan Vidmar.
